Dave Matthews Band Doesn’t Want DRM

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

According the band’s official website, they don’t seem to support the many DRM inconveniences that users have to put up with. They have posted instructions on how to get their music into iTunes, by bypassing the included DRM. It involves the lame task of burning the tracks to a CD, then ripping again.

Digg:
Two senators have propose a law that will ban cities from implementing free wifi for their citizens. Instead, they will allow private companies to capitalize on what would have been free for everyone. Call your senator and revolt!
This bill is just rediculous. Senator Ensign and McCain have been bought by big telecommunication companies. More [...]

From LifeHacker:
Attorney Evan D. Brown notes that in a recent Munster vs. Groce court case in Indiana, the court determined the plaintiff hadn’t exercised due diligence finding the defendant because Google wasn’t searched:
The court seemed to chastise this failure: “[W]e discovered, upon entering “Joe Groce Indiana” into the Google search engine, an address for Groce [...]

Broadcast Flag stalled once again

Thursday, June 23rd, 2005

From Engadget:
It was a close call, but an amendment that would have tacked the Broadcast Flag onto an appropriations bill failed to make it out of a Congressional subcommittee yesterday. Apparently H.R.2862 was referred to the Committee on Appropriations without the amendment in question attached, which means that, for the time being at least, we’re [...]
