Eliminate Image Spam in Outlook
Almost all e-mail programs block images. So why is it that they still show up? A spammer’s latest tactic to get into your inbox is to embed images within the e-mail itself. Here’s a way to block all e-mail with embedded images by sending them to your spam folder in Outlook. This works in Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007.
- Select Tools | Rules and Alerts
- Click New Rule…
- Start from a blank rule
- Select the condition with specific words in the message header
- Click on “specific words” to enter them in
- Enter “multipart/related” without the quotes, and then click Add
- Enter “Multipart/related;” without the quotes, and then click Add
- Click OK
- Click Next
- Select the action more it to the specified folder
- Click on “specified”, select your junk mail folder, and then click OK
- At this point, you can click Finish
You may get some false positives, but it should cut out most of your image spam.

This is good, thanks. However, it does scoop up other normal emails that have images embedded. I guess I’ll have to keep checking my junk mail filter from time to time.
