US Census: Daytime Populations

The U.S. Census Bureau just released some interesting data showing daytime populations of cities and counties. According to the results Detroit’s population actually decreases during the day by 1%. About half of the workforce in Detroit (160+ thousand) lives outside the city. In contrast, the population of Auburn Hills, MI increases by over 190%, with 23% of residence also working there (myself included). This is nothing compared to Lake Buena Vista, FL. The city grows from only 16 residents to over 30 thousand every day! New York City has the highest daytime population of over 8.5 million with a change of 563,000 people every day.
