Watch out Google, Wikipedia’s Movin’ On Up
Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia and news site, had a 130% increase in visits in this past year far surpassing Google News and even CNN main threads. The site, now almost #1 on the internet, has become the major news and information hub. While I doubt mainstream media will go away, more and more people are turning to sites like Wikipedia and blogs. These sites are edited not by journalists, but by everyday people. News tends to show up on blogs before you see it on major news networks. It’ll be interesting to see how people get news and information in the years to come.
