Have you ever wondered how strong those cement barriers are that you see infront of military base entrances? I mean, what purpose do they actually serve? When told that the barriers will stop traffic, even trucks, from approaching a secure building, most people respond with a look of disbelief. Well, a friend of mine at TACOM found some footage to prove their worth. In this test, the following parameters were used. Read them and then watch the film.
It’s quite amazing…Truck = 65,000 lbs.
Speed = 50 mph
Kinetic Energy = 5.5 MILLION ft. lbs.
Stopped in 24 INCHES !!!
