Yahoo forces RIAA staff cutbacks…
One of the RIAA’s most profitable businesses (suing people for downloading music) isn’t as profitable anymore. How much is unlimited music downloads worth? The RIAA would have you believe the market value of unlimited downloads is thousands of dollars. According to Yahoo, it’s $5/month. Mark Cuban writes:
The RIAA can no longer claim that students who are downloading music are costing them thousands of dollars each. They can’t claim much of anything actually. In essence, Yahoo just turned possession of a controlled music substance into a misdemeanor. Payable by a $5 per month fine.
You’ve been downloading music for the past 2 years? That’ll be $120. The Yahoo Music Service is very enticing… I’m thinking about signing up!
