Vonage with Home Alarm Systems
Vonage cracks into market dominated by landlines | CNET News.com
Net phone operator Vonage has teamed up with Alarm.com to tackle a common problem that has kept some consumers with home alarm systems from subscribing to Internet phone services.
This is a smart move for Vonage. Next to 911 service, home alarm systems is probably the next excuse I hear most for not switching to VoIP. In other Vonage news, they just struck a deal with Quest to access their 911 infrastructure.

Vonage and most other VoIP providers continue to have the problem of not working with many home security companies. Alarm.com has a good solution but requires replacing an existing working security system in the home.
uControl.com (http://www.ucontrol.com) has an interesting approach. They attach to an existing security systems and enable monitoring over broadband, (optional) cellular and (optional) phone. They have many of the same features as alarm.com (plus a few more such as multiple channels back to the monitoring company).
